Heart to Heart Hospice Volunteer Opportunities

We at Heart to Heart Hospice believe that volunteers are the essence of the very heart of our hospice team. Would you like to reach in to give, rather than take? To go from self-concerns - to being a host for the concerns of others?

Volunteers are needed on an ongoing basis. To listen rather than advise. Perhaps the most important quality required of a volunteer is to listen. Volunteers are needed to touch rather than talk - to open your arms rather than keep them closed. Hugs are a touch from one heart to another, and go a long way in the healing process. A volunteer fills a void and meets the needs in the lives of our patients and their families.

A Hospice volunteer fills many patient & family needs by volunteering as:

• Patient Support Volunteer
  Provides companionship & emotional support by spending time with patient, talking, reading or other activities. Providing respite for the patient's caregiver.
• Administrative Volunteer
  Provides filing, typing, answering telephone & group mailing assistance in our offices.
• Community Education
  To reduce the myths, taboos and misconceptions about terminal illness, death and dying.
• Professional / Consult Volunteer
  Assist with program administration development. Volunteer your time in the field you specialize in.
• Bereavement Volunteer
  Provides companionship and emotional support to the family after the passing of their loved one.
• 11th Hour Volunteer
  Provides bedside support to an actively dying patient, their family and/or the facility staff so that no one has to die alone.
